This afternoon, after doing my shopping, I drove up Blackwell Hollow with its huge rocks on either side of the road, switching my lights on in the middle of a lovely, sunny day. Half way up the hill, some twinkling caught my eye. Getting closer, I could see that the wind was carrying leaves from another road onto the Hollow which gleamed golden in the sunlight that was able to stream through the gap in the rocks.
It looked like a moment from inside a snow globe. Instead of swirling snow, the golden leaves danced across the road, and I instantly felt that this was a moment of blessing from my awesome and mighty God, reminding me to stay in the light and be a light for others.
For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:4
But everything exposed by the light becomes visible – and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. Ephesians 5:13
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9
